University of Prishtina Welcomes International Experts for the 39th ICP Vegetation Task Force Meeting

For the first time in Kosovo, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at University of Prishtina will host the 39th Task Force Meeting of ICP Vegetation from 9 to 12 February 2026, led by Prof. Musaj Paçarizi. This event represents an important milestone for the university and for Kosovo’s presence in international environmental research.

ICP Vegetation (icpvegetation.ceh.ac.uk) is a long-established international research programme that studies the impact of air pollution on crops and natural vegetation. Operating under the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution, it brings together scientists from over 50 countries to monitor and understand how pollutants such as ozone, heavy metals, nitrogen, and persistent organic pollutants affect plants, ecosystems, and biodiversity.

The meeting will begin with a welcome reception on Monday, 9 February, in Pristina. The main scientific sessions will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday (10–11 February), featuring presentations, discussions, and poster sessions. On the final day, Thursday, 12 February, participants will enjoy a visit to the historic city of Prizren, combining scientific exchange with cultural exploration.

This conference offers a unique opportunity for Kosovo’s researchers and students to engage directly with leading experts, share local data and perspectives, and establish collaborations with the international community. Hosting ICP Vegetation highlights the University of Prishtina’s growing role in environmental research and its commitment to addressing global challenges in air quality and ecosystem health.
